Full Biography
I started dancing at the tender age of 2 ½ years old and have never looked back. I first started teaching with my sister Angela when I was 13 years old, she had started up her own dance school “Angela Jowett School of Dancing,” located in Midland. I continued to work with Angela and we built up the school to over 250 students, when in 1990 we sold the school as our beloved Mum lost her battle with cancer.
I then took myself off to Europe, where I travelled, worked and when the opportunity arose attended dance classes throughout Europe. Upon my return to Perth, I realized that I really did miss teaching children the art of Dance and Angela and I started Kalamunda Performers together in 1998. I love what I do and it brings me great joy to see students grow from toddlers into incredible talented dancers.

At the age of 12 I was lucky enough to become a student teacher. I have competed at numerous other dancing competitions over the years which has encouraged me to become the performer I am today. I have also appeared on Telethon for singing and dancing and have been a part of many local shows. In 2018 I travelled to America with KP and had the time of my life learning from incredible choreographers over 3 weeks.
I love everything about being on stage, performing, and being a role model to the younger students. I want my students to understand the greater life lessons that dancing taught me as a child, and so I spend time getting to know my students so they feel comfortable to express themselves. I have recently completed my Bachelor Degree in Primary Education, and if it wasn’t for the opportunities at Kalamunda Performers, I wouldn’t be so passionate about my chosen profession. My love for dance never stops growing and I am so grateful that I can share that love with others.
I love being an inspiration to the younger students; watching them grow into beautiful dancers over time is the most rewarding feeling!

Full Biography
My name is Vicki Rybka and my dancing adventure began when I was 2 years old at the Trembath School of Dance in Carlisle W.A. This school had the reputation as the best acro school in the state. Along the way I have learnt jazz, tap, ballet, highland and acrobatics. I have successfully completed all C.S.T.D theatrical exams up to grade 1.
By far my favourite and most enjoyable genre is acrobatics. My first floorshow was at the age of 6. I have performed with the 8 Imps and the 9 Dynamics who were well known acro troupes in the 70’s. We appeared at many venues around Perth and country towns. We also entered various talent quests, some of which were shown on T.V. This included Spotlight on channel 9 where we won our heat and appeared in the semi finals and National Showcase in Melbourne with my duo partner Debra McCulloch where we won our heat and the semi final and appeared in the Grand Final.
Thankfully I have passed on my passion and enthusiasm to my two daughters Teagan and Sam. Who assist me at all the acro classes at Kalamunda Performers. I have taught them acro since they could walk and love to choreograph their acro routines for competitions, where they have been very successful. The best thing about teaching acro is seeing the student’s excitement as they progress and achieve their goals… its magic and I LOVE IT!

For as long as I can remember, dance has been a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it! From a young age(3) dance always appealed to me and it was one of my key interests growing up. Once I became older, it became much more than that – I fell in love with it!
In my younger years I loved to train different disciplines, including Jazz, lyrical, tap and pointe. I came to Kalamunda Performers (KP) at the age of 12 years old, and KP was like nothing I had experienced before. I felt comfortable immediately and knew that this would be my dance home.
Under the guidance and expertise of the SNR faculty at KP, my dance ability developed very quickly. My focus became jazz, tap, and ballet, through the ATOD syllabus, where I competed in many ATOD competitions. I have represented KP in numerous competitions, in both solos, and troupe for the past 6+ years.
At 14, I was given an amazing opportunity to be an assistant teacher alongside KP’s experienced faculty. It wasn’t long after I began assisting, I realised I had a passion for teaching.
I have always demonstrated high commitment to my dancing career, I worked hard to tackle every challenge and improve my skills. This commitment was recognised by Kalamunda Performers, and I was selected as one of a handful to travel to America, to train with some of the world’s most elite dancers and choreographers. This opportunity was unparalleled and pushed me to new heights. I was very excited to come back and share my experience with my students.
I have learnt so much and grown as a person, dancer and teacher. It is very important to me that my students are supported and can benefit from my experiences. I am always there to encourage and support them to achieve their goals, and help them grow into the dancers I know they can be.
